Mario Whitehead may never again dribble a ball or go up for a lay-up after another teenager accidentally shot him Monday at Willie Mays Park in his Richmond Heights neighborhood.
Takim Rashad Neal, 17, was playing with a 380-type gun at the Orlando park when a bullet burst from the barrel and entered 16-year-old Mario’s right shoulder during a basketball game, police said.
Mario collapsed as the slug traveled through his flesh and lodged itself near his spine while he screamed to the people around him that he couldn’t feel his legs, an Orlando Police report said.
Doctors confirmed Tuesday that Mario may be paralyzed from the waist down, said Sgt.
