Owen is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on murder and arson complaints. He was arrested Wednesday.

Owen is accused of intentionally setting a fire Wednesday morning outside an older couple’s house. Boyd Haynes, 87, and his wife, Doris Haynes, 86, died from smoke inhalation.

Owen lived nearby with his grandfather. Police found in the street near his house two busted bottles used to make firebombs.

“Tristan denied any wrongdoing at first but later recanted his statement and admitted to making the Molotov cocktails after he saw them being made on a movie called ‘Jackass 3.’ Tristan advised he did light the Molotov cocktails and throw them but they busted and never caught fire,” police detective Ryan Porter wrote in a request to a judge for a search of the boy’s cellphone.
